Holidays bring us joy for so many reasons. Whether we get to spend time with loved ones or not, holidays bring back memories of times past. And yes, some of our memories are not perfect or even good. Yet most people have at least a few good times to recall. Holidays are also uplifting with the colors, lights, sounds, smells and smiles we see around and on everyone’s faces.
Holidays bring us JOY
One thing I like about Christmas is the anticipation of it. It seems as though everyone can’t wait! I
see joy and peace when I look around. Valentine’s day is all about love and the heart. Even if you are not currently with someone to celebrate, you can celebrate all the love in your own heart! St. Paddy’s Day is a fun holiday, bringing lots of laughter, jokes and beer! Easter for me is a very important holiday because of my faith. As a Catholic, Easter is considered the most important holiday. Mother’s day is a mix of happiness and sadness for me. My mother passed away at a young age, and I miss her. However, it is nice to celebrate with my own children on that day.
Holidays are for FUN
Other holidays like Memorial Day and The 4th of July are fun to spend with family and friends to
honor our country and those that fought for our independence. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I think this is because it was my Mother’s too. She used to come visit me in NH often and I have many fond memories of sharing this holiday with her. I like it’s simplicity of being together just to remember how grateful we are. Father’s Day is a great day to appreciate the dad’s in our lives, whether they are here or deceased, like my dad. Remember to honor and respect your dad and spoil him while he is still around!
