Fun-Family St. Patrick's Day ideasCook Irish Food–think green:

Who doesn’t want to eat green foods on St. Patrick’s Day? Put on the aprons and get in the kitchen with your kids. I used to love to bake cutout cookies shaped like 4 leaf clovers and decorate them with green and white icing. My kids loved it. Green is the color of the day so get ready to bake everything from St. Patrick’s Day cupcakes to Irish Mint Brownies. If you’re ready to eat traditional Irish foods for dinner, try some of these favorite Irish recipes. You can prepare Corn Beef and Cabbage, Irish stew, beef and Guinness pie and Irish soda bread, to name a few. I prefer beef stew over corn beef and cabbage myself. Enjoy my beef stew recipe here.

Play St. Patrick’s Day games:

Are your kids feeling the luck of the Irish? Play St. Patrick’s Day games and find out. Try St. Patrick’s Day Bingo, search for a pot of gold or play a leprechaun relay race. My kids used to love Fun-Family St. Patrick's Day ideasa treasure hunt with the pot of gold at the end! I also hid “gold” like you do on an easter hunt with the clues, so when they find a clue, they also find a ‘nugget’ of gold. Buy your golden (chocolate) ‘coins’ here.  and There’s no limit on your creativity with this fun holiday.

Find a Parade:

Cities big and small around the world host St. Patrick’s Day parades. It’s a great opportunity for kids to wear their green, hear great Irish music, see Irish dancing and, of course, score some free candy. Look in your local newspaper, contact your local TV station or call your city’s chamber of commerce to find out which day and time your city will be holding a St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Listen to Irish Music:

Take a trip to Ireland without ever leaving your home. Listen to Irish music with your kids. You can find plenty of Irish tunes here. Vary up the playlist with Irish tunes that are instrumental or feature Irish folk music. Try some Irish punk, too.

Try a new craft beer:

Farmer Willie’s is a fairly new company that makes Craft Ginger Beer. It is light and refreshing with a sweet/sour combination. It is made with all natural ingredients and tastes really great.

Farmer Willie’s is a fairly new start up company founded by a local young, Massachusetts man. Here is what he says about his beer.

“We make real ginger beer. This means we use, on average, 4x less sugar than any other ginger beer along with real, fresh ingredients. Combined with our 4.5% alcoholic base that we ferment using cane sugar & champagne yeast (so it’s light & gluten-free), this makes Farmer Willie’s the first ginger beer you want to drink straight out the can.”

Welcome to Craft Ginger Beer.
