BodyMindSpirit Acupuncture and Wellness strives to see people not only how they present in illness, but more importantly as they would be in perfect health and balance, in full discovery of their true nature, unique in body, mind and spirit.
For thousands of years, the ancient Chinese have understood and recognized a vital force or energy in all life forms. They call this energy Qi (pronounced chee). Acupuncture follows the laws of nature and is based on this model. This is different than the biochemical model of Western medicine.
BodyMindSpirit Acupuncture and Wellness- how it works
Qi moves through the body via certain pathways or meridians. It follows the fascia throughout the body and flows where blood circulates. A particular physiological system and internal organ is associated with each pathway. In order for optimal health to occur, the Qi must flow freely in balanced strength and quality. An imbalance is created when the Qi is stuck or not flowing properly. This gives rise to disease. Energy blockages occur when there is a lack of smooth flow of Qi.
Everything in our body is connected between three levels:
- body
- mind
- spirit
Patients receiving acupuncture are striving for a balanced state of health in all three of these levels. For instance, a patient who tends to hold in an emotion often experiences a physical symptom, like a headache, a stomachache or heart palpitations. In addition, there is a strong focus on preventative medicine with acupuncture. Together, we will form a partnership to reach this goal.
As your practitioner, I use an intricate system of pulse and tongue diagnosis, medical history, palpation of specific areas, Acu-points, and other signs and symptoms, to create a diagnosis. A personalized treatment plan is then devised to restore the smooth flow of Qi within the body, mind and spirit.
